Camera and microphone
FaceTap uses the camera to record a local photo phone book loop while you drive. It can record cabin audio with the video. You can turn the microphone off.
Video and audio are stored only in app private files. You may export clips (for example to Movies/FaceTap). FaceTap does not upload clips.
Location
If you allow location, FaceTap can overlay speed and location on a clip. A sidecar GPS file may sit next to each clip on this phone. Location stays on this phone. It is not uploaded.
Motion
Accelerometer data stays on-device. Motion lock is an estimate, not crash detection.
What is not used
- No advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No analytics SDK.
- No FaceTap account.
- No cloud video.
Purchases
If you buy Lifetime Pro, Apple or Google processes the payment. FaceTap does not receive payment-card details. There is no monthly or yearly plan on the paywall.
Deletion
You can delete clips in the app or uninstall FaceTap. That removes local clips stored by the app.
FaceTap is a phone photo phone book, not a medical or insurance product. Insurers and courts decide what they accept.
Sent without analytics permission
These limited, non-identifying records are processed even when optional analytics is off, because they are needed to understand purchases and cancellations. None of them contains a name, email address, device identifier, installation identifier, advertising identifier or Apple Account details, and the server does not log the IP address for these requests.
- Purchase status from Apple. Apple sends signed App Store Server Notifications about purchases and refunds. We store the notification type, product, App Store country and times rounded to the hour. Apple's original transaction ID is stored only as a keyed hash.
- Purchase context from the app. When you buy, the app creates a new random code for that purchase only and gives it to Apple with the purchase. The app sends the same code with the app version, chosen product, paywall variant, App Store country and a rough time-since-install range (0 days, 1–3, 4–7, 8–30 or more than 30 days). The code is not reused and is not linked to your device.
These records are used only in aggregate to improve FaceTap.
